You are turning a blind eye to his family, while also asking him to spend time with his family. You ask him to spend what he can on his treatment, while his insurance cover may go away if he quits his job and return to fiji/india.
There is no easy answer here.
But if he had his GC, he could spend all the time with his family, use his insurance cover at the same time, and not worry about his family going out of status.
He COULD try to expedite the GC, while also exploring other options.

They sent you receipt before cashing the checks?
Most likely the check was deposited earlier, but his/her bank statement had a delay in updating. Sometimes, when the amount in the check is large, it goes through a review process by banks and so your bank statement will not update for a few days after the check was actually deposited.

This thread just puts things in perspective. Getting a GC and beyond is a good thing, but in the larger scheme of things, enjoying the present moment and enjoying what you got is far more important. You never know when it can end !

Wonder if you happened to mention the time line question? One section in the "Guest Worker" chapter says it can not be implemented 90s before the study, would that only cover the "Guest Worker" section or the whole bill? The house will try their best to push an enforcement first approach, if they gain more on that, then we might end up with a bill passed but never take effect. That would be the worst situation.
Today I spoke to a Representative who deals with immigration issue at Sen Mike Dewine's (R-OH) office. I spoke to him for 15 minutes to understand what he and his senator think about this CIR.
Here is he and his senator feels about this bill. It is difficult for him to say that when CIR bill will be introduced in senate floor . It depend on Majority and Minority leaders to decide. Majority leader told to the media that he will introduce before the end of the may, he is mostly consistent, but there are several bills where he has committed a timeline and till today it is not on the floor.
However he told that once CIR pass, legal immigration is already taken care of, but if it does not passes there are bills like SKIL which will be put before the floor. But CIR has to fail or pass before you see this SKILL bill on the floor.

It takes 90 days MINIMUM to get EAD? I've heard that it takes at most 90 days to get EAD. Does anyone know?
No it shouldn't take that long... some of my friends got it in 2 weeks couple of months back. First time we should get it soon .. renewal only takes time.... I am not sure how long it will take for us, it dependes on their work load also.

When I joined Company X (prior employer) I paid for H1b transfer fee and h1b renewal fee(total $3200 + $3000).
They agreed to sponsor my green card(just to give required paperwork) and they asked me to pay GC cost, So far I have paid $1500 for labor +$1700 advertisement + $1700 for I-140 + $3750 just now to file I-485 for me and for my spouse as dates were current to my lawyer . I have labor and I-140 approved from Company X.
I was compromising my personal life by staying away from my family and company X didn't find any client near to my home. I decided to stay at home hoping Company X will find some client near to my home. I was on a bench(no salary for a month).When I asked for a "employment letter "to file I-485 Comapny X said they can't give because they are not paying me , I said I will resign and then you give me "future employement letter". I resiged Company X( i found company Y near to my home), in 10 days they cancelled my H1b visa without informing me, gladly I found Company Y and H1b transfer took place before they could cancel my H1b. Company X is reluctant even today to give future emplyement letter.They are ready to do corp-to-corp, forthat have to pay them H1b tranfer cost of $3200(as my prior h1b got cancelled by company X) . I don't beleive its worth going back to them , but at the same time never wanted to lose $8650 green card cost.
To join Company Y again I paid h1b transfer fee and , company Y expects me to pay Green card cost again. I am on 7th year extension. New H1b is valid till 2010(3 yr extension on I-140 approval from company X).
Shall I start green card again with company Y ?
Company X doesn't respond to emails/calls. There should some law to protect us from such employers. BTW Employer X was an american employer and wants to follow book-rules.Example .. informing USCIS to windraw H1b petition.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I would suggest that you talk to a good immigration lawyer about this.
In the worst case scenario, if your wife has an EAD she can try to find a job and ask her company to sponsor an H-1B.
I hope things take a turn for the better for you and your family.

Just called the service center and reply I got back was weird. Apparently their case status viewing system is down and will not be up and running for another 1 week. So, no info as of now and call back in 1 week :(

Why do you care if they care about EB3 or not.. do you care? Seperate effort.. what will you do in that.. again a back bench behind the alias pushing others to do something, without donating or contributing. Who gave you even the right to write here and put your views when you cannot even can consider it trustworthy to donate 2 cents.

In my opinion, we need to have separate efforts for EB3 (now that EB3 I and EB3 ROW are in the same boat). If we have someone with leadership qualities and wants to use some social networking site for discussing EB3 issues and identifying approaches to solve the EB3 issues, there will be many EB3 folks willing to support the effort. Immivoice is just useless portal, it doesn't have open forums and the core folks here don't care for EB3. In fact, their lobbying efforts were behind USCIS changing the rule for spilling over the unused visa numbers to EB2 first. Just my 2 cents.

I and my wife have been SCREAMING, FIGHTING for over four years now. We are now so frustrated that we have EVEN DISCUSSED THINGS LIKE TAKING UP OUR LIVES !!! I really mean it. For both of us, our career is the single most important thing.
We had decided to wait for our next step in life like having a kid or putting in a big investment till we both at least have a job. Inspite of both of us having Masters degress from US universities, we are both suffering - me languishing in a filthy job and my wife on H4 - for the past 5 years !!! She is now more than 35 making it difficult to have kids etc...
I don't have the choice of going back to my home country due to many other personal reasons. I just don't know what to do... I am losing my sanity.
We had decided to wait for our next step in life like having a kid or putting in a big investment till we both at least have a job. Inspite of both of us having Masters degress from US universities, we are both suffering - me languishing in a filthy job and my wife on H4 - for the past 5 years !!!
